Cash Cows – Round 15

As the season gets longer, it becomes harder and harder to find the right cow for your team! Trying to conserve in the limited trade formats after completing your team means that you have to become very picky with the right downgrade option. In AFL Fantasy it becomes even more important. Cash generation is paramount in those last 2 months of footy so you can continue to build that team.

DreamTeam and SuperCoach

I have coupled the limited trade formats together this week. The options are not great! If anything, I would be suggesting to hold on trading for this week. When you start looking at options and Ryan Schoenmakers or Matty White are the best options, then it is time to walk away from the computer. I think it would be worth waiting till next week and getting another look of Witherden and Darcy before jumping on. You only need to look at last week’s possible best options in Beech and Brown. Neither set the world on fire and now appear to have shaky job security moving forward. If you must go anyone then perhaps a Brennan Cox might fit ok especially with Tom Stewart getting injured on the weekend.

AFL Fantasy

In an age of ‘crap hair’ a guy with a decent mop stands out to me! Alex Witherden can also play footy! It really is the best of 2 worlds this week with this kid. Tom Stewart injury means we will need to find someone to take his spot and I think Witherden is the best of a very short list. He makes very good decisions and has some serious foot skills to execute with. He will be a mainstay in the Lions outfit for the next decade as well so should get plenty of games under a Fagan we the fantasy football coach can trust! He is my #1 guy for AFL Fantasy this week.

Sean Darcy is a huge man! He impressed me greatly in his debut last week. I think Freo should persist with big Darcy even when Sandi is back in the team. The master and the apprentice! Be wary though with this kid. First year so wont play heaps. Might get the odd run in the ruck so scoring potential might be down as well. His tank is something he will need a few preseasons with. Having said all that, he is very much in the picture for my team this week!

Another Freo kid impressed me on the weekend. Brennan Cox did a couple of very nice things against Geelong that made me wonder if he will retain his spot even when Sandi returns. The problem is obvious however. The role he gets IF selected when the Dockers have a fit squad to select from might not be fantasy friendly. The future does look promising though!

2017 Cow of the Year Contender!

When you play football and score like Hugh Greenwood, I really do’t care how stupid your hair is! This guy went nuts last week and now features again in the tables of breakevens above. He is shaping as a very solid f7/m9 swingman for at least the next few weeks. And yes, even an on field option if the match up warrants. Great to own as well. I salute you Mr Greenwood!

Best of the Rest

Jonathon Beech is probably the best of the rest this week. He wasn’t the Crows worst on Thursday night. The issue will be if he retains his spot with the likelihood of McGovern returning. Callum Brown was very quiet and will probably get dropped. Mountford also didn’t do heaps but should at least retain his spot in the team as the Roos pushed the Dogs all the way. Not much else really to look at truth be told! I don’t mind Karpany but he does feel like a in one week out the next type.

On the Horizon

I think the time has come for the Eagles to select Luke Partington. What they have made this kid do to get a debut game is extraordinary. He has racked up the touches all season in the WAFL and now has added goal kicking to his array of talents. Another who must be ready for senior action is Mitch Hibberd. We started this kid hoping for an early game after doing enough in the preseason. He keeps staking his claims in the VFL and deserves a crack now. Nathan Freeman had another 30 touches. Crazy Bucks dropped Scharenberg who then went out and then went out and answered with an outstanding game on the weekend. I have no idea what Bucks is thinking. Surely the Pies need Scharenberg to be building those games in the ones… Crazy Bucks! Corey Lyons (brother of Jarryd) had a decent game in the NEAFL. Kirby continues to kick goals for the Pies as well. Josh Begley bagged 4 sausage rolls for the Bombers. Plenty of cows everywhere in the magoos to keep sneaky eyes on! JKH went beserk in the VFL and racked up nearly 40 touches! He would have to be in line to replace a Salem type. He has never showed much however from a fantasy POV so prob better to stay away even if named!

All the best for round 15 coaches. Make sure you give us a like on the facebook page by clicking here or a follow on twitter by clicking here. May the DT Gods look upon you favourably for this week!
